Making a Referral
A referral can be made by a solicitor, CAFCASS officer, social
worker, family mediation service and we also accept self referrals.
When making a referral, please remember we are a 'supported' contact
centre and therefore some families may not be suitable for the services
we provide.
How to make a referral
- Contact the Coordinator on 0790 541 7228 or leave a message on (0114) 272 6851 to request the referral forms.
- 2 referral forms will be sent out, one to each party's representative (i.e. solicitor).
- There is a referral form for resident parents and one for non-residents seeking contact.
- Referral forms should be completed and sent back to the Coordinator, at least one week in advance of the proposed contact.
- Copies of court orders and injunctions must be enclosed.
- The SACCC leaflet will be sent out with the referral forms. Please send one to your client before contact starts.
- Once the referral form has been received, it will be considered in the light of the family's situation and space at the centre.
- The families will be offered the option of looking around the centre before attending.
- The referrer will be informed of a start date and time, at which point both parties should be informed of the arrangements
- The non-resident parent needs to be at the centre 10 mins before
the session starts, and should be made aware of this. He or she may
leave no earlier than 10 mins after the resident parent has left
the centre.
- No reports are made at the centre. Information on dates and times of both parties attendance will be given out if requested.
- Please note, if you are making a self referral we will need a
reference for both Resident and Non Resident Parent before contact can
start.
